Previously, he was principal and chief investment officer with Goddard Investment Group in Atlanta. Ted has 28 years of extensive real estate experience, and prior to joining Goddard Investment, he spent 16 years with Morgan Stanley Real Estate, including its predecessor companies Lend Lease and Equitable Real Estate. Ted has a strong focus on sourcing core, value-add and opportunistic real estate investments in high growth markets. He is a member of NAREIT's Advisory Board, Raleigh Chamber Board and Chair of the First Tee of the Triangle.

Brian Leary
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Learn MoreBrian joined Highwoods in 2019. Previous to Highwoods, Brian served as president of Crescent Communities commercial and mixed-use business unit since 2014 where he directed the company’s office, industrial and retail developments and property management across the country. Prior to joining Crescent, Brian held senior management and executive positions with Jacoby Development, Inc., Atlanta Beltline, Inc., AIG Global Real Estate, Atlantic Station, LLC and Central Atlanta Progress.

Brendan Maiorana
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Learn MoreBrendan joined Highwoods in 2016 and spent the previous 11 years in Equity Research at Wells Fargo Securities, starting as an Associate Equity Research Analyst. Prior to that, he spent four years at Ernst & Young LLP as a senior auditor. He is a certified Chartered Financial Analyst.

Randy Roberson
Senior Vice President, Development Learn MoreAs Senior Vice President of Development for Highwoods Properties, Randy is responsible for development across the company’s nine divisions. Development services include land-use planning and entitlements, design, cost control, construction administration, owner representation and customer coordination during the development process.
Randy joined Highwoods in 1995. During his tenure, he has overseen 10.2 million SF of real estate development, totaling an investment of $3 billion. Prior to Highwoods, Randy served as a senior project manager at Clancy & They’s Construction Company and as vice president at Benchmark Construction Corporation.
Randy is a LEED Accredited Professional with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University.
Jeff Miller
Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary Learn MoreJeff joined Highwoods in 2007. Previously, he was a partner with DLA Piper US LLP and Alston & Bird LLP. Throughout his career in private practice, Jeff concentrated on securities, corporate governance and related strategic matters, and served as general outside counsel to a variety of publicly-traded REITs, including Highwoods. Jeff served as lead independent director of Hatteras Financial Corp., a publicly-traded mortgage REIT, prior to its merger with Annaly Capital Management, Inc. in July 2016. He is a trustee of Ravenscroft School and a member of the Wake Forest School of Law Board of Visitors.

Carman Liuzzo
Senior Vice President, Investments Learn MoreCarman leads the Company’s Investment Group. He joined Highwoods in 1994 as Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer and remained in that position until December 2003. Prior to Highwoods, Carman spent four years with KPMG Peat Marwick and then Boddie-Noell Enterprises as Chief Accounting Officer. He is a member of the Real Estate Industry Advisory Board and the Pamplin College of Business Advisory Council for Virginia Tech, the Cristo Rey Research Triangle High School Board, the Catholic Charities Board and the Haven House Services Board. Additionally, Carman is the former chair of the Diocesan Finance Council for the Raleigh Catholic Diocese and vice chair of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Triangle District Council.

Dan Clemmens
Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer Learn MorePrior to joining Highwoods in 2007, Dan was a senior manager with Ernst & Young LLP in Atlanta for 13 years. He has extensive experience in the real estate industry, having led Ernst & Young’s audit engagement teams focusing on a variety of public REITs, including Highwoods. Dan is a Certified Public Accountant. His professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Ryan Hunt
Vice President and Chief Information Officer Learn MoreRyan is responsible for the company’s information technology strategy and aligning technology investments with the overall business. Ryan joined Highwoods in 1997 and quickly transitioned his focus to technology. Ryan began his technology career on the IT Help Desk, served in various other roles within the Technology Department, and most recently served in the role of Senior Director of Application Development.
While working with Highwoods, Ryan earned his BS in Management Information Systems from NC State University. Ryan has been an integral part of developing many of our custom applications and has a thorough understanding of the intersection of our technology needs and business processes.

Steve Dixon
Vice President, Portfolio Operations Learn MoreAs the Vice President, Portfolio Operations for Highwoods Properties, Steve leads the company’s capital improvement efforts. He guides engineers, energy efficiency, environmental policy, acquisitions – capital improvements, and assists in reducing operational costs.
Steve previously worked for the Raleigh, NC based electrical utility Progress Energy, where he had roles in energy management, customer service, marketing and website data/project management. Before joining Progress, he was employed in building construction and mechanical design.
Steve received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University and is a Professional Engineer in multiple states. He is a LEED AP and holds construction licenses in North Carolina for General Contracting, Electrical and HVAC/Plumbing as well as a Certified Energy Manager. Steve also serves on the Board of Trustees for St. Timothy’s School and formally the Board of Trustees for St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Raleigh, NC.

Mr. Evans was elected to the Board in January 2015. He is Chair of the Board and the Executive Committee, and a member of the Compensation and Governance Committee.
Mr. Evans retired from Wells Fargo Bank in May 2014, where he served as executive vice president and group head of the eastern division of Wells Fargo commercial banking. He was also responsible for the bank’s government & institutional banking group and he served on Wells Fargo’s management committee. Mr. Evans joined First Union National Bank in 2000 as the wholesale banking executive for the commercial segment prior to its merger with Wachovia Corporation in 2001. From 2006 until Wachovia’s merger with Wells Fargo in 2009, Evans was the wholesale banking executive and an executive vice president for the Wachovia general banking group.
In addition to serving as a Highwoods Board member, Mr. Evans is a director and member of the compensation committee of Goldman Sachs BDC (NYSE: GSBD).

Ms. Lloyd was elected to the board in January 2018. She is Chair of the Audit Committee, a member of the Executive Committee and a member of the Compensation/Governance Committee.
Ms. Lloyd served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. (NYSE:MLM) from June 2005 until her retirement in August 2017. She joined Martin Marietta in 1998 as Vice President and Controller and was promoted to Chief Accounting Officer in 1999. She is a director and member of the Audit Committee of James Hardie Industries, plc (NYSE:THX), a world leader in manufaturing film cement siding and backboard. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a certified public accountant.

David L. Gadis has been a director since 2021. He is a member of the Audit Committee.
Mr. Gadis is the CEO and General Manager of DC Water, one of the largest and most highly regarded water utilities in the nation. Prior to joining DC Water, Mr. Gadis served as the EVP of Veolia North America and as CEO and President of Veolia Water Indianapolis. He was the utility’s first African American CEO/President and the first African American CEO to lead a major utility in Indianapolis. Mr. Gadis is chairman of the board of Blue Drop, DC Water’s nonprofit sales and marketing affiliate. He also currently serves on the boards of National Association of Clean Water Association (NACWA), the National Forum of Black Public Administrators (NGBPA) and the DC Utility Infrastructure Advisory Council.

Mr. Anderson served as regional manager of Highwoods Atlanta and Greensboro operations until his retirement in June 2009. Mr. Anderson is managing principal of G.H. Anderson & Company, a private investment firm. He was president of Anderson Properties from 1978 until February 1997. Mr. Anderson is a past president of the Georgia chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties and is a past national board member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties.

Mr. Anderson co-founded Bandera Ventures, a private real estate development and investment firm, in May 2003. Prior to founding Bandera Ventures, Mr. Anderson was with the Trammell Crow Company for over 16 years where he was senior executive director, responsible for the development and investment group for the western United States. He also served on Trammell Crow’s executive and operating committees. Mr. Anderson serves on the Board of Directors Triumph Savings Bank (NASDAQ:TBK).

Mr. Anderson has had an extensive career in banking, finance, investment management and real estate. He retired in June 2019 after 18 years as Chief Executive Officer of the Medical University of South Carolina Foundation. Previously, Mr. Anderson spent 27 years at Bank of America as President of Bank of America South Carolina and head of its Carolinas Business Banking group. He is a life trustee of the Saul Alexander Foundation, a director and treasurer of the Winwood Farm Home for Boys, and a Senior Vice President at Plantation Services, a real estate and land management firm.

Dr. Hartzell is a Steven D. Bell and Leonard W. Wood Distinguished Professor in Real Estate at the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School. Prior to joining the University of North Carolina in 1988, Dr. Hartzell was a vice president at Salomon Brothers Inc. in New York, where his primary focus was on institutional real estate finance and investments. Dr. Hartzell also worked as a research associate for The Urban Institute and as a financial economist for the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of Currency. He is a former president of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association.

Candice Todd served as Managing Director/Global Chief Financial Officer of Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investments from 2019 until her retirement in February 2023. Ms. Todd first joined a predecessor of Morgan Stanley in 1994 and served in a variety of real estate investment, finance and accounting roles, including Global Chief Financial Officer of Morgan Stanley’s open-end funds (Prime Property Fund U.S., Prime Property Fund Europe, and Prime Property Fund Asia). Ms. Todd is currently chair of the National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries. She earned a Master of Accountancy and a B.S. in Human Resources from the University of Alabama.
